The International Masterclass of Bandonoen is the only intensive course dedicated to the bandoneon that takes place continuously on the national territory within the framework of ARTango & JazzFestival. The headquarters of the initiative is Sardinia, where every year during the last week of August, bandoneonists come from all over Europe to follow the lessons and seminars of the great masters hosted from time to time. At the end of the course the musicians perform in a final concert, fruit of the work done during the days of the master class.
From 2015 to today there are dozens and dozens of participants from all over Europe who have reached Sardinia to take part in the masterclass that, from year to year offers the possibility of attending individual and group lessons with the best bandoneόn masters in the world. Maestro of the 2018 edition was the Argentinian national bandoneonist and teacher, Victor Villena, former professor of bandoneόn at the Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam.
This year the 5th edition of the International Masterclass of bandoneon 2019 will have the honor of hosting the Argentinian bandoneonist and orchestra leader, Juan Josè Mosalini, called "one of the most important apostles of tango".
The appointment is for 30, 31 May and 1 June in the beautiful setting of the Electra Theater of Iglesias.
It will be possible to register on two different levels: basic and advanced.
During these three days, the participants at the basic level, will have the opportunity to take part in collective lessons through bandoneon ensembles that will face a repertoire mainly of traditional tango, aimed at learning the rules and executive characteristics of the genre. It will study the "fraseo", the various types of "marcato", "arrastre" and will also deal with some technical aspects for obtaining the best known sounds of the bandoneon in tango.
The advanced level will instead be based on at least two individual and personalized lessons in which a repertoire chosen by the student will be dealt with in both the technical, stylistic and musical aspects.

Moreover the german restorer Carsten Heveling will be present to give a seminar on:
- instrument maintenance and minor repairs, tuning of single notes
- technical and acoustic characteristics of historical bandoneons.
Furthermore, for those who need it, Carsten Heveling will offer the possibility of having a quote for a possible finalization and evaluation of the instrument, and, if time permits, the possibility of carrying out any repairs in a laboratory that will be set up specifically in theater.
